Photography sessions often involve children and newborns. Information about children is generally provided by their parent or guardian and is collected only where it is reasonably needed to plan, photograph and deliver the session safely and effectively.

Photographs may be shared with professional service providers where necessary for editing, gallery delivery, film processing, printing or other services you have requested.

Your photographs will only be used publicly for my website, portfolio, social media, advertising or other promotional purposes where permission has been provided through your contract or another consent process.

You may contact me if you wish to discuss or withdraw permission for future public use. Any request will be considered in accordance with the terms of your agreement and any reasonable practical limitations.

  • Studio Ninja, which supports enquiries, bookings, contracts, questionnaires, invoices and client administration

  • Pic-Time, which provides client galleries, image delivery and selection tools

  • Calendly, when you choose to schedule a call

  • Film development and scanning laboratories

  • Professional print laboratories

  • Australia Post, couriers and delivery providers

  • Government agencies or law enforcement where disclosure is required or authorised by law

Only the information reasonably necessary for the relevant service is provided.

Third-party websites and services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. I encourage you to review those policies if you would like more information about how they handle personal information.

Overseas processing and storage

Some service providers may process or store information outside Australia. This may include the United States, Israel and other countries in which service providers, cloud systems or professional editing services operate.

Privacy protections in other countries may differ from those in Australia. I take reasonable steps to select reputable providers and limit the information shared to what is needed for them to perform their services.

Payments

Payments are processed through third-party payment providers. Alicia Burgess Photography does not intentionally collect or store your complete credit or debit card details. Payment providers handle this information in accordance with their own security and privacy practices.

I may retain transaction details such as the amount paid, payment date, invoice number, payment status and refund information for business and legal record-keeping.

Email marketing

If you subscribe to my mailing list or otherwise agree to receive marketing communications, I may send you photography news, availability, offers or other updates.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in a marketing email or by contacting me. Unsubscribing from marketing will not prevent me from sending necessary service-related communications about an existing enquiry, booking, gallery, order or payment.

Cookies and website analytics

This website is hosted by Squarespace and may use cookies and similar technologies needed for the website to function, remember preferences, understand website traffic and improve the visitor experience.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect how parts of the website operate.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps may include password-protected galleries, access controls, reputable service providers, secure devices and appropriate business procedures.

No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If I become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, I will take appropriate action and provide notifications where required by law.

Retention of information and images

Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the services you requested

  • Maintain client and business records

  • Meet accounting, tax, insurance and legal obligations

  • Resolve disputes or respond to enquiries

  • Maintain appropriate backups

The period for which an online gallery remains available will be communicated separately. You should download and securely back up your final images rather than relying on the online gallery as permanent storage.

When information is no longer reasonably required, I may securely delete or de-identify it, subject to legal, contractual, technical and backup requirements.

Access, correction and deletion requests

You may contact me to request access to personal information I hold about you or to ask for incorrect information to be corrected.

You may also ask me to delete information where it is no longer required. Some information may need to be retained for legal, accounting, contractual or legitimate business purposes.

I may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Parents or legal guardians may make requests relating to information held about their child.

Privacy questions or complaints

If you have a question, concern or complaint about how your personal information has been handled, please contact me using the details below. Please include enough information for me to understand and investigate the issue.

I will acknowledge your concern and aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
